Pastor Cliff Ely
Pastor Cliff Ely has served as the pastor of Woodway Church of God for the past 15 years. As an ordained bishop with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee, Pastor Cliff is passionate about serving God and loving people.
His heart for ministry is simple: love God, love people, and help others discover the hope and transforming power of Jesus Christ.
For Pastor Cliff, being a pastor is more than standing behind a pulpit. It is about walking alongside people through every season of life, praying with them, encouraging them, and pointing them toward Jesus.

At Woodway Church of God, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for our faith and how we live. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He gave His life for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and that salvation is found through faith in Him.
We are a Spirit-filled, Pentecostal church affiliated with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee. We believe in the work and power of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and in spiritual gifts, including speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
We believe that God calls His people to live lives of holiness, to grow in their relationship with Christ, and to serve others. We believe in water baptism by immersion, the Lord's Supper, and the ministry of prayer and divine healing.
We believe Jesus is coming again. We look forward with hope to His return, the resurrection, and eternal life with Him.

As a Church of God congregation, we share the denomination's mission of proclaiming the full gospel of Jesus Christ in the Spirit and power of Pentecost. We believe church should be more than a place we attend. It should be a place where we encounter God, experience His presence, grow together, and take the gospel into our community.

Woodway Church of God has been part of the Pennington Gap community since 1974, when the church was founded by Pastor Bradley Yeary.
For more than five decades, Woodway Church of God has remained in the same location, continuing to be a place where people gather to worship God, grow in faith, pray together, and serve our community.
While the church has remained rooted in its original location, the campus has continued to grow and improve through the years. Recent improvements include a remodeled fellowship hall and the addition of a basketball and pickleball court, providing new opportunities for fellowship, recreation, and connection across generations.
Today, Woodway Church of God continues that legacy with a simple desire: to love God, love people, and point others to Jesus Christ.
